March 18, 2026

Wednesday, March 18, 2026

All praise belongs only to Allah, the Almighty. May the peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family, the faithful companions, and all those who follow them.

Based on the moon sighting confirmation consistent with the global moon sighting criterion, the Council of Imams of Ottawa-Gatineau hereby declares that the first Shawwaal will be on Friday, March20, 2026.

Accordingly, we will celebrate Eidul-Fitr on Friday, March 20, 2026. , insha-Allah.

We remain ever grateful to Allah for giving us yet another opportunity to observe the blessed month of Ramadan and enabling us to offer Taraweeh and Qiyam. We ask Allah to accept all our fasting and worship of the month
and grant us guidance to continue similarly in the future.

Eid is a day of celebration through feeling and expressing happiness. While we celebrate Eid with our family and friends, we must not forget those in the community who are elderly, living alone, or do not have a
social network. We urge you to include those families in your celebrations on this very blessed occasion. Reach out to such people and bring joy to their day as well. There is no better day than the day of Eid to mend broken
relationships of the past. As situations around us keep changing and become more challenging for some, let us submit to Allah for His assistance and put our trust solely in His Mercy.

As Ramadan comes to an end, we urge Canadian Muslims to remain steadfast in prayers, du‘aa, and support for all those who are suffering, such as in Gaza, Sudan, Iran and elsewhere, through all wise, permissible, and lawful
means. May Allah accept our fasting, prayers, and charity and ease the hardships of the oppressed and those in need.

Richmond Islamic Community Ottawa is hereby also extending very happy and joyous Eid greetings to all Muslims and Canadians across the country and wishing you all a prosperous and healthy future that is filled with love and remembrance of Allah along with the teachings of the final Messenger, Muhammad ﷺ. Let us encourage one another to earn the pleasure of Allah through acts of piety, righteousness, and service to humanity.

Eid Mubarak.
